WINTER VISIT
● Although every effort will be made to keep driveways clear, the cottage is located
in an area that receives a lot of snow. Your vehicle should have snow tires or 4
wheel drive with good all-season tires. Please do not visit the cottage with 2
wheel drive and all-season or summer tires.
● There is parking at the top of the hill for a few cars. Cars that park at the bottom
of the hill should have 4-wheel drive and snow tires.
● If you are not sure how to use the fireplace safely, please ask for guidance.
● Always keep the fireplace door closed except when adding wood. Besides
creating a safety concern, the open door will result in air being sucked into the
cottage from the outside, actually cooling the cottage instead of heating it.
● Only burn firewood in the fireplace (no garbage etc.).
● Please keep windows closed in the winter.
● Consider bringing slippers or thick socks for the first day until the floors have
warmed up (for lower level only).
● Please do not dispose of cigarette butts into the snow on the lawn. In the spring
this is a major job to clean up.
● If your dog creates yellow snow near the cottage where others are likely to walk,
please take a shovel and throw the yellow snow in the forest.
● Please leave the cottage grounds as clean and pristine as the inside of the cottage
when you leave.
● Be careful if you’re going on the lake; always check the ice thickness before
venturing on the ice.
● Use the ceiling fans in the main living area to circulate air while the fireplace is in
use.
